Oh Dear, Roe Deer…..more on the urban deer surveys
Reader of Active8 magazine in Sheffield spotted a Roe Deer in broad daylight on their street and sent in a great photograph to the magazine. It was around Tadcaster Crescent and was seen by Amy Benjamin (who took the photograph) and also by neighbour Tessa Hainey.
This continues a pattern of local records with the area being re-colonised since the late 1980s and information coordinated by the South Yorkshire Biodiversity Research Group. I actually heard a Roe Deer barking at night in Norton just a mile or so away, and this was the Friday before this picture was taken on the Sunday. Deer have also been reported from nearby Graves Park and I am keen to get more information on these.
