    Last Sunday while walking along Rivelin between the S bend and Hind Wheel I was surprised to see a tiny bat – think it was a pipistrelle flying around, especially since it was around 12 mid day. Is this unusual?

    • It will have come out of hibernation with the sunny weather, and probably was hungry. Also, at this time of year on a sunny day, there will be insects flying at midday, but not into the evening when temperatures drop. Interesting observation though and not that common to see.
