This is a short video clip to present concerns and issues of local people from Grenoside about the recent management in Greno Woods. The work, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and carried out by Sheffield Wildlife Trust, is intended to conserve and enhance this remarkable block of ancient, medieval woodlands.
On http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KK8WHrHSxvU there is an interesting debate that presents these views and counter views as well. The work is clearly well intended but also, from the response of local people, there are issues and problems. I have been to investigate and comments will follow.
Finally, for now, almost any management of a woodland or of trees, will generate concerns from local people – for and against. However, there are standard and successful ways to deal with these issues and to work with local people; so the question is, have they been followed?
