Planning Application to erect two 34m wind turbines at Hollins Edge Farm, Deepcar

Please see the message below from Chris Prescott, a concerned environmentalist, regarding the planning application submitted to Sheffield City Council to erect two 34m wind turbines at Hollins Edge Farm at Deepcar.

There has been much noise made about the potential impact of a single wind turbine to be located at Sheephouse Heights just up from Stocksbridge. However in terms of visual impact an application has recently been submitted to Sheffield Council for erection of two 34m wind turbines at Hollin Edge Farm at Deepcar. Details of the application can be found on the council’s website reference number 13/02433/FUL
The site is in a prominent position overlooking the Don valley and will detract from the visual amenity of this quiet unspoilt area. It sits on an important migratory route for birds and like most wind turbines acts as a mincer for anything passing within the span of the blades. If you feel that it is important to protect both the local environment and wildlife, make your comments known to the council, as decisions are often affected by the relative weight of comments in opposition to proposed developments.

One Response to Planning Application to erect two 34m wind turbines at Hollins Edge Farm, Deepcar

  1. Paul Groobey says:

    Chris,
all you say applies to the Sheephouse Heights 79 metre turbine which will be the first of many on both sides of the Valley – why not fight them all ? There arte hundreds of red listed birds here – how about saving them as well ?
